The tulip shape was developed specifically for wines where aroma is everything. The slightly flared bowl with a narrower rim concentrates delicate floral and fruit notes, allows for aeration, and directs the wine to the center of the tongue to maintain its crisp, acidic profile. Studies show the tulip glass can increase aroma perception by up to 30–35% compared to a classic wine glass. The pulled-stem technique produces a thinner, more lightweight bowl, and visible ripple lines from the glassblowing process make each piece unmistakably Simon Pearce.

Seconds are fully functional pieces that don’t meet our strict visual standards. Because every item is made by hand, small variations naturally occur throughout the making process. Some seconds reflect the learning curve of new artisans or the refinement of a new design, while others simply fall outside our tolerance guidelines. When this happens, the piece is designated as a second and offered at a reduced price.

Seconds are typically offered at 10%–30% off the original price, depending on the piece.

Seconds may include subtle differences in shape, size, or finish. Common variations can include:

1. Slight dimensional differences beyond our tolerance range, typically ⅛"– ½".
2. Small bubbles within the glass.
3. A gentle wobble that does not affect stability.
4. Occasional stones or cords in the glass, which reflect the molten material and furnace environment.

These variations are visual in nature and part of the handmade process. Pieces that are unsafe, sharp, or unstable are never offered as seconds.

No. Because seconds celebrate variation, each piece is unique and may differ from the product photography shown. That individuality is part of what makes seconds special.

No. All seconds are final sale.

Seconds are not eligible for gift boxing or wrapping. However, you may contact our Customer Care team to purchase a gift box separately if available. Gift messages may still be added at checkout.

    Tulip wine

    It is a very nice glass and easy to use and I like it. I would hope to see less stem, a more modern shape. However, will always like Simon Pierce glasses.

    is this my favorite glass? tbd

    Look, I can't say if this is my favorite wine glass because of the glass or because it means I have a cool splash of very dry French rose waiting for me. Either way, well executed - Nice in the hand, not too expensive that it feels too dear to use. Get this glass. Put southern French rose in it. Be refreshed.
